Elekta shows promising results in pancreatic cancer

Patients had localised pancreatic cancer but were not eligible for surgery. Following high-dose, MRI-guided radiotherapy with Elekta Unity, around 26 per cent were alive after three years, according to a new study.

The results were presented at the ASTRO radiation oncology conference and come from a study conducted at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York.

The study included 123 patients with localised pancreatic cancer who were not eligible for surgery, a group with limited treatment options and a generally poor prognosis.
